Actor Ayushmann Khurrana has been named the official ‘Fit India Icon’ by Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, as he joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India Movement to inspire a healthier nation

At the inaugural ceremony held in New Delhi on Sunday, 40-year-old Ayushmann Khurrana was honoured as the ‘Fit India Icon’ by Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. The actor, known for his versatile roles and commitment to social causes, has now aligned himself with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India Movement, which aims to encourage citizens to prioritise their health and wellbeing. 

Khurrana, in his address, highlighted the transformative power of good health, stating, “Good health empowers us to do anything.” He elaborated, “When your health is good, the challenges in life—whether personal or professional—seem manageable. But when your health is compromised, it becomes the only challenge that matters. A healthy individual is capable, confident, and resilient even when the world around them feels uncertain.” 

The Fit India Movement, launched by the Government of India, seeks to foster a culture of fitness by promoting physical activity as easy, fun, and accessible. Its initiatives aim to eliminate barriers to fitness and showcase simple, enjoyable ways to incorporate exercise into daily routines. 

Khurrana emphasised the broader impact of a healthy society, adding, “Health truly is everything. A healthy nation is a wealthy nation. When we are healthy, we are more productive, more prosperous, and contribute to nation-building.” 

The actor’s appointment as a Fit India Icon underscores his influence as a role model, inspiring millions to embrace a healthier lifestyle. Through this initiative, Khurrana hopes to motivate individuals to take small, consistent steps towards fitness, reinforcing the movement’s core message: that good health is the foundation of a thriving nation.
