Kakkad’s upcoming Marathi film Raanti is already creating significant buzz. Featuring celebrated actors Sharad Kelkar, Santosh Juvekar, and Chhaya Kadam, the film promises to be a game-changer for Marathi cinema.
“Raanti is one of my most ambitious films. The idea was to push the boundary of what we have seen in Marathi cinema. I am grateful to have a brilliant cast in Sharad, Santosh, Sanjay, Chhaya, and the entire team. It has been my constant endeavour to push the envelope for myself; that’s what keeps me going,” says Kakkad.
BEYOND RAANTI
While Raanti has the industry talking, Kakkad’s horizons extend far beyond. He is set to direct a Hindi feature with producer Sanjay Gupta and is adapting a book for another production house.
“I have signed with Sanjay Gupta to direct a feature for him, and there is a book I am adapting with a production house. Both are starkly different stories, and I’ll share details soon,” he reveals.
For Kakkad, cinema is more than just entertainment—it’s an art form to express the unseen and unspoken. “With each of my works, it has always been the story first, and then everything else follows. I don’t think I can function in any other manner,” he says.
