
Bengaluru recently witnessed an extraordinary celebration of determination and grit at the 5th edition of the Indian Dialysis Olympiad (IDO), hosted by NephroPlus. Held at the iconic Kanteerava Stadium, this one-of-a-kind sporting event, exclusively designed for dialysis patients, showcased their resilience and unwavering spirit to lead active and fulfilling lives despite the challenges posed by kidney failure.
The event drew a remarkable turnout, with 1200 attendees, including nearly 800 dialysis patients who participated across a range of exciting sports. From badminton and table tennis to a penalty shootout, basketball, carrom, and a 50-meter walkathon, the day was filled with inspiring moments of athleticism and camaraderie. Each competition provided participants with an opportunity to demonstrate their strength, embrace the spirit of sportsmanship, and rediscover the joy of physical activity.
A STAR-STUDDED EVENT
The Olympiad was graced by several eminent personalities, including Health Minister Sri Dinesh Gundu Rao, badminton champion Saina Nehwal, Dr Raghunandan (Deputy Director, NCD), Dr Nazia Shekhaji, and Nethravathi. Their presence added a touch of inspiration to the event, serving as a powerful reminder that no obstacle is insurmountable with determination and the right support.
