UPCYCLED ART

“We are working towards zero waste,” says Kirti Anand, a passionate eco-warrior who gives a new lease of life to waste materials by upcycling them into art pieces – be it garden installations or wall art or mosaic pathways made from scrap metal, broken tiles, rusted equipment, cans and window frames

A vibrant Peacock mosaic adorns the entrance to their home, while Earth, Water & Fire mark the pathway leading up to the guest rooms. Crafted from bits of waste tiles, these mosaics come together to form stunning depictions of the national bird and the elements of nature.

The Earth mosaic shows a Tree of Life in muted tones; in contrast, the blues of the Water mosaic depict a Koi pond. Meanwhile, fiery oranges and reds, embody the fierce energy of the Sun and passion of the blazing flames of a Fire.

Each mosaic, though composed of broken pieces, forms a beautiful and cohesive whole, symbolizing the transformative power of art and makes for a great photo opportunity as well!

We stumbled on yet another one which was still a work-in-progress. Kirti calls it Forest, as it evokes the splendour of nature showcasing leaves, flowers, bugs and bees.
