On Tuesday, actress Vidya Balan shared a video of herself reciting a Bengali poem by Sukumar Ray from Abol Tabol, with co-actor Rajesh Sharma on the set of their latest film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Captioning her post, Balan wrote, “In between scenes, on a night shoot for BB3, I attempt remembering the 1st #aaboltaabol I learnt from my dear co-actor bondhu #RajeshSharma 7 years ago on another set.”
Ray, a celebrated writer and father of legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray, penned Abol Tabol in 1929. Known for its playful and whimsical verses, the collection remains a cherished part of Bengali children’s literature, bringing fantastical characters and imaginative humour to life.
Balan returns to her iconic role as Manjulika in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, directed by Anees Bazmee, alongside Kartik Aaryan, Madhuri Dixit, and Triptii Dimri. Rajesh Sharma, who shares the screen with her in this film, plays Triptii’s character Meera’s uncle. The two actors, frequent collaborators, have previously worked together on Parineeta, Ishqiya, and The Dirty Picture.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has already crossed the ₹200-crore mark in India, bringing its total to ₹204 crore.
